The Fur Snood

2:25:00 PM

Wind in the winter is never good, but its giving me so many opportunities to take advantage of the many scarves and snoods I had. Well actually snood...only one. This faux fur snood would see more action outside of my closet if it didn't shed so much. So I recently tried spraying it with hairspray. Supposedly that's what other people are doing to cut down the shedding and it work for a little while. I think its something I'd have to do multiple times or with stronger hairspray. Either way I still love how it looks and feels.

If any of you know other ways to stop the fur shedding please let me know so I can give it a try.

Splashes of Color

2:08:00 PM

With this cold weather still plaguing the DC area I have been dressing in a lot of greys, blacks and browns, but always with just a tiny bit of color. I'm sure in the warmer weathers it'll be the opposite. Like my mood I tend to dress the way the weather makes me feel. Is that just me? Do you dress darker in the winter too?

I do miss my brightly colored clothes and I try to bring them out a little during the colder months, but I'll just blame it on the weather.

Plaid and Stripes!

12:12:00 PM

On weeks where the weather just decides to bite you in the butt I love the fact that I can layer the heck out of my clothes! This is definitely one of those weeks where we are seeing 10 degrees and below temperatures. Even with all of my layers I still want to look presentable especially when you are going to see family that you haven't seen in years! You want to look nice right!?

You can't tell but I have even more layers on than you can see and I was still so cold. Spring where are you?

Valentine's Day Events in DC

3:28:00 PM

My significant other and I don't really celebrate Valentine's Day! Correction, I don't really celebrate Valentine's Day and not for the silly reasons other people use but because I just see it as another day. I used to have elaborate reasons, even when I had someone to spend it with, on why I never wanted to celebrate but now it is simply the fact that I don't see the craze about it anymore. Though I do still like to use the day as an excuse to do something fun, especially since this year its on a Saturday! YAY for daytime events too!! So here are some things going on in DC for you Valentine's enthusiasts and for those just looking to do a little something extra for the day!

1. Chocolate Tour of DC :: Go for stroll through Georgetown while enjoying some of Washington's most decadent dessert boutiques and chocolatiers on the Chocolate Tour of Washington DC.

2. Outdoor Ice Skating :: Go to one of the many outdoor ice rinks and enjoy a couple hours with your loved one OR friends and just have a great time skating around.

3. Cupid's Undie Run :: Are you a runner who likes to give back to amazing charity's? Participate in or watch this awesome 1.75 mile run that raises funds for the Children's Tumor Foundation.

4. Terrapin Adventures :: If you aren't a runner but are still like being very active you can go to Terrapin Adventures and have fun on their zipline, ropes courses, a giant swing, and climbing tower!

5. And of course, you can always pick a random restaurant that you both have never been to and try a new dining experience.

What city are you in and how are you celebrating the holiday of love?

Mix and Match

11:47:00 AM

Unlike some friends of mine and my significant other I don't have any issues mixing browns and blacks. For some its a big no no and for me, well I could care less. I like to argue that the rule of thumb is that neutrals go together and that black and brown are both considered neutral colors! So according to that logic the rest of you are seriously missing out on some cute outfits.

I couldn't resist using my checked J Crew coat with the outfit! It added just enough color and made me feel like a lumberjack; win win in my book!!

Mixing Patterns

11:43:00 AM

During this time of eternal cold weather its hard for me to want to wear dresses and other cute outfits that wouldn't usually cover parts of my body! Sometimes to be honest I just want to go out looking like an Eskimo or just not go out at all!! Over the weekend however we were celebrating my mother's birthday and of course I wanted to look nice for her. This is where my sweater dress comes in handy and its super easy to layer! So of course I took advantage of the layering part and also tried some pattern mixing.
