Green with Envy

10:12:00 AM

I used to laugh at that expression as a kid because the first thing that would come to mind was Donald Duck turning emerald green and growing horns! I sometimes still imagine people turning bright green every time they got really jealous of someone and then giggle to myself. So when I saw this dress I immediately thought of those child memories and cartoon characters. Oh the child in me!

Dress: H&M, Tights: Old Navy, Booties: Jessica Simpson, Necklace: Ann Taylor

This dress is such a pretty emerald green that its a statement piece on its own. I can't wait to wear it in the warmer months and show it off without a big coat covering it.

DIY Cravings!

2:07:00 PM

I'm back!! Sorry for the minimal posts lately, but with every winter a horrible cold took over my life. There was nothing I felt great looking in so there were no pictures taken, but there was a lot of browsing through many, many DIY projects that I just wish I could do.

First there is this coffee table DIY which i also can't do because my dogs would eat anything that isn't locked up. But its so pretty!

It so simple looking! Some paint and some paint there; add some accent hardware pieces and DONE.

Also to add on top of the coffee table some DIY wooden coasters!

I am sure you can find the wood at some art stores and probably amazon. I've seen people burn in the designs they wanted as well as draw on it. It is whatever you want! The beauty of DIY!!

Last but not least, these hand stamped necklaces. They take a couple of tools that I don't have and am not sure I would use very often, but the necklaces are super cute and super chic!

Plus you can find the full tutorial over here!

Maybe I'm feeling extra creative or more likely I'm really bored of hibernating in my house and hiding from the cold weather. Either way I am super into DIYs these past couple of weeks. I just think I would be a little more proud of the things I have if I made them. What do you think?

Cleaning Out My Closet

4:38:00 PM

So the battle with my closet is an ongoing and never ending war! I don't always seem to be winning either. Every day I hear that I could get rid of this shirt, or that dress or those shoes...etc. My answer is usually no I still fit it and I wore it recently...sort of and most the time its me holding on to the piece emotionally. I'm here to tell you that over the weekend I was strong and took out a few more things from my closet that I know I have not worn and probably will not wear again. There is still more to do to reorganize it since I am now sharing a walk in closet. I've been following some of these tips to help me get rid of clothes I shouldn't keep and reorganize.

1. When examining the clothes you have think of these questions. Does it still fit? Have I worn it in the last 12 months? Would I wear it again? Is it damaged? Do I love the way it looks on me?

2. Hang as much as you can in your closet. If you can see it you are more likely to wear it.

3. Get new hangers. Slimmer hangers help you make the most of your space. I have ones that have a hook right in the middle of the hanger so I can hang another hanger from that one giving me the option to really maximize my space.

4. Organize your folded clothes in a way that makes sense to you. Everyone is different and maybe someone's way of organizing though it may look great might not work for you.

5. Maximize your shelf space and drawer space with dividers!

6. Your closet door can be used for hanging accessories or other items. Use the space!

7. Don't let the floor go to waste! Bins can be placed to hold other accessories like scarfs or belts. You can put a short shoe rack to display your shoes. Use all the space you can!

Maybe you have heard these tips and tricks multiple times but when I go to war with my closet these really help. I may forever be battling my closet for extra space but at least I know that there are endless tricks to help me make it better for now. What are your tricks to help manage your closet?

American Apparel

Big and Floppy

11:33:00 AM

Before this awful arctic weather got to DC I was able to enjoy my new floppy felt hat. On my first time wearing it this wonderful lady came up to me and stopped me just to tell me how fabulous I looked. When I say getting a compliment from a total stranger is the best I 100% mean it. From that point on I was walking taller and smiling ten times bigger.

Oh how I miss the days before this frozen tundra fell on us!

Cold Weather Cutie

4:56:00 PM

I would just like to say I pretty much refuse to wear dresses in the winter unless its a wedding or other huge event that demands it. So me wearing one even for a fancy date night is a pretty big deal in my world. For whatever reason I really felt like dressing up! Don't think I didn't layer up though. It is still crazy cold here.

Jacket: American Eagle, Vest: J Crew Factory, Dress: Express, Shoes: Jessica Simpson, Necklace: Charlotte Russe, Watch: Michael Kors, Earrings: Givenchy

The minute we stepped outside I was slightly upset in my decision to be cute rather than pile on all my winter clothes, but sometimes beauty is pain my dear!
