As the weather gets worse all my thoughts go back to this past weekend when it was in the beautiful 60s and I was spending time with my little family by the waterside. I had the most wonderful time enjoying the sunshine and watching the dogs run around. I hope you all got a bit of great weather in the middle of all this snow!

Oh my goodness I never wanted the weekend weather to end. It was so beautiful and I didn't have to wear a million layers! I actually got to wear cute clothes that I felt comfortable in and best of all I got to test out a new pair of sunglasses. I can honestly say that this was the first weekend in a long time that I did not stay in my apartment for the majority of the time. I walked around Easter Market and enjoyed all the beautiful jewelry, plus of course the food too. Then I walked around Silver Spring and enjoyed a nice cup of Starbucks. I even ended my evening out on the town with my close friends celebrating one of their birthdays, granted I still went home reasonably early. What can I say I'm an old soul. 

I have finally been able to get the booties that I've been drooling over forever. I, of course, had to have at least two booties and one had to be black and the other brown. In my head I just could not have one black OR one brown to finish my closet for the Fall/Winter season. I had to have both! I have to say I am so happy I did because I love them both so much. Though I will probably have to admit that I think I like the black slightly better because of the awesome punk rock spikes on the back on the shoe. It makes me feel like I can let my inner rocker out without scaring people. 

Let me just start by saying I do not mind Valentines day, in fact I love the story behind Valentines Day. Saint Valentine secretly married young couples since getting married was made illegal by the emperor because he believed it made his men better warriors in battle. Its sweet and romantic, but I just treat it like any other day. I guess you can say because I show the people I love them everyday I celebrate the true meaning of Valentines everyday. 

 I tried something new with the camera again. I like the black and white but I'm not sure I like the quality. Oh the woes of getting the perfect picture.

Happy snow day east coast! I think we got at least two feet here in DC. I know for some people that may seem like nothing but here it is not normal. Besides playing dress up and playing around with my closet I've been doing a lot of organizing and cleaning. Not that I didn't get to go out for a bit here and there since, y'all know, I have two loving dogs. Its funny seeing the difference between both of them. Zeus, the younger of the two, had the most fun running around in the snow and trying to catch snowflakes in the air, while Louie couldn't have gotten back in the apartment any faster. 

A really big trend that is hitting every store is the trumpet skirt. I wasn't 100% sold on a lot of the skirts that I have seen for the most part because they would be a little short for my taste. Since then I have actually found the perfect trumpet skirt that is a wonderful length for me and even makes me feel super chic. I finally got to wear it for a fashion show I covered on behalf of AskMissA.com. (Did I mention I am a new columnist for AskMissA.com!!? No? Well yours truly is a new writer for the amazing website.) I decided it was the best outfit to portray a more trendy look and to make me feel confident as I waltzed into my first ever fashion show. Everyone seemed to be impressed with my outfit and I even got asked a couple time if they could take pictures of my outfit. I'm just happy that I didn't completely bomb at the event. 

I'm not sure what Sunday was like for everyone, but my Sunday was lovely! The weather was quite warm and very sunny and I loved every minute of it. Thank goodness for the good weather because I actually had some people coming by to buy and pick up my dresser set that I decided to replace and my extra dining table. I didn't even have to do much work getting it out since the lady had brought some male companions for the heavy lifting. The best part of that day had to be when I was told that my dressers and table were going to a mother and daughter who just got out of a bad situation. It made me happy to know that even though they are inanimate objects someone was going to appreciate and love them like I did.

I'm sure you are thinking "What is up with this girl and red?". It just so happened to be a coincidence! Plus it is definitely one of my favorite accent colors that can be appropriate all year round. Also don't mind the belt repeat; I just really love that belt lately and it just seems to go with every outfit I throw on. Do you have a favorite belt or accessory that just keeps ending up being the finished piece to all your outfits?

So this past weekend I went home to see my family because it was my mother's birthday on the 2nd, which coincidentally not only falls on Ground Hog's Day, but this year also falls on Superbowl Sunday. This year my mom didn't want to do much except spend some time with the family and go out for dinner. I made sure she got a little pampered and took her out to get a pedicure at her favorite salon. It was just really nice spending some time with my mom and the rest of my family. I don't go home as much as I used to so that I can save a little money, but it does make the time that I do see them a bit more special.
