JC Penny is one of the few stores that I can never go in without coming out with something and that something is usually on super sale so I had no choice but to get it. That is my explanation for everything I get from JC Penny. Do you have a store that you can't come out of without having bought something? And don't say Target, because that place is my kryptonite!

Seriously though the past couple shopping excursions have consisted of Target, JC Penny and Kohl's. Its just so hard to go inside and not want to buy all the things that are cute and are on super sale! I need to stay away from all these stores and keep the small amount of money I have left.

I hope everyone's holiday was amazing. I spent it with my family in Williamsburg and had a great time. The holidays are always so important in my family so we always make sure to come together no matter what. My parents are even more adamant about waiting till Christmas morning to open any presents. We all wake up early and make breakfast together as a family and then open present by the tree. Traditions are what makes my holiday so special.

So this weekend had the oddest weather. Sunday it was 71 degrees out so I quickly picked out attire that would be appropriate for Fall, because that's exactly what it felt like outside. These are the days that I love because I can wear totally inappropriate clothing for the season, but it is 100% appropriate for the weather in my city.

When it is cold outside sometimes all you need is a beautiful coat to make your ensemble look amazing. I had one of those days where I just didn't want to spend too much time on my outfit while still being fashionable and weather appropriate. I recently purchased a berry moto coat from American Eagle. It isn't just warm it is gorgeous! The color really makes it stand out and helps me get away with not trying too hard.

In the last post I showed you all the ideas I had for winter wedding outfits well today I get to show you the dress I ended up finding at the last minute that turned out to be a hit. The wedding was held on a little farm in Virginia and the reception was in the barn. It was full of wonderful rustic and Christmas touches. I had a great time and hopefully you will enjoy the few pictures I was able to get.






My favorite piece of decor in the reception had to be the Christmas tree. It was adorable and gave that touch of Christmas cheer to the space. If I have a winter wedding far, far away I am making sure there is a Christmas tree incorporated somehow!

So I have been racking my brain for a couple of weeks on what I can wear to a winter wedding. It is so hard for me because I absolutely hate being cold. The last reception I went to (couldn't make it to the destination wedding so we went to the at home reception) it was already too cold for me and I  was in a maxi skirt and flowy long sleeve blouse. Unfortunately I can't wear the same outfit because a lot of the people who attended the reception will also be at this upcoming wedding. 

I'm sure I am not the only person who has trouble finding appropriate things to wear to a winter wedding so I thought I would share my ideas.

Overall, I think either of these options is completely appropriate and can be used again, which is really important to me. Unless you are in the wedding and must have a specific outfit I usually suggest having an outfit that not only fits in the theme of the wedding but can also be used at other occasions.

I absolutely love the blog Atlantic Pacific. If you don't already know her, then you better get on to her site and get to know her! Recently she had this outfit with a red plaid button up and black skirt. I fell in love! Immediately I thought to myself, "Do I have similar pieces?" Tell me what you think about my recreation of her amazing outfit!

There are times when an extravagant piece of jewelry will make a casual outfit pop! I don't always feel like playing with big chunky pieces because sometimes they can overwhelm an outfit, but there are those instances where they pull everything together. Those are my favorite outfits. They make my day just a little bit brighter and honestly I am a little bit more confident. Do you have outfit moments where you look in the mirror and go "Yes, I feel awesome!". I had that moment with this outfit and I was only going out window shopping. I wasn't going anywhere special. I was just having a normal day out with my mom, but I felt great.

The rule I'm breaking is wearing white after labor day. I have never, ever, liked that rule. I can't understand the whole notion of picking a color that no one could wear for an entire four months. Its ridiculous. I have a pair of white jeans that I don't always feel comfortable wearing because I am a clumsy person. If I wore them more often they would probably not be white today. So when I do find an outfit to wear them with and a place I feel like I can't possibly spill something on myself, I get excited to wear my white jeans.

Helping out my friend during her Holiday Card photo shoot was the perfect little event to wear my outfit for. I held the clothes and gave some posing advice and in return she went shopping with me!



The mall just could not wait to put up their Christmas decorations! I love it so much. I'm really excited to start putting up my own decorations. I just need to make sure nothing is too low for the dogs to grab at. Really anything within their reach always becomes a chew toy.



One great thing about my friends is that all our accessories are shared! I don't know how many times now I have borrowed this necklace. I probably should just buy one already, because I love it; the color, the versatile length and the design.


Heels are pretty and can give an outfit that feminine touch it needs, but when walking my dogs it makes it hard to keep up. I switched to some oxfords to keep the menswear style I was going for, plus they are just so comfortable!

I really loved being able to get out and enjoy some of the holiday cheer going around. Everywhere I went there was Christmas decorations and holiday events. Even my apartment building is prepping to have a few parties and fundraisers. It is going to be an amazing season; I can feel it!
